Fiber art
Date
January - March 2023
Location
Rochester, MN
Coral Bubbles + Fungal Forms is a two-part crochet art installation shown at 125 Live from Jan-March 2023.
One wall features five coral dioramas made from crochet shapes mounted on a crochet background within embroidery hoops. These coral bubbles explore different types of coral life, including a bleached coral representing rising ocean temperatures.
The other wall had three panels of live edge wood with crochet mushroom and fungal shapes attached to the bark. Varying in size, each cluster of fungi is closely modeled after a real-life variant, from Tillandsia usneoides (Spanish moss) to Laetiporus sulphureus (Chicken of the Woods).
