Commission FAQ

Thanks for being interested in commissioning a piece of crochet art from Amigurumi Horde! I'm excited to work with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece for you.

Some things to know about commissioning with me:

What can I commission you to make for me? The sky is *almost* the limit. Frequent commission requests are stuffed animal replicas of pets - I make all kinds. I've also made customized plants, coral or mushroom displays. Maybe there's an amigurumi from my store that you like but want in a different color. Or maybe it's something totally different - commissions are an exciting opportunity for me to try something totally new, so send me your ideas.

Commissions I'm not interested in: baby blankets or clothes, doll items, home goods such as washclothes/dishclothes.

A commission request is not a guarantee of a commission. I review each request to determine whether it's within my skillset or a challenge I'm interested in taking on.

After reviewing your request, I will be in touch to discuss in more detail and provide a quoted price. Before beginning work on a commission, I will need your agreement that you're ok with the product and price I have proposed, as well as paying a non-refundable deposit to reserve your commission slot.

How much is a deposit? I require a deposit of $25 or 25% of the quoted price to reserve a commission slot. The deposit amount will count toward your total price and can be paid in the form of a custom listing I will place on the website and share with you.

Who can commission me? Anyone. I accept commissions from individuals and businesses. I will make something for your home, your business, or for you to gift.

What makes a good commission request? Specifics are super helpful to me. If you can include a few pictures of things that are similar to what you'd like, that's even more helpful. I'll use those to search for patterns and so on to help me make a plan.

What happens after you review my commission request? I'll contact you with a proposition for your commission - this may include color options, inspiration pictures to give you an idea of what I could make, and so on. This is also when I'll ask any follow-up questions about your commission.

Once I start, I'll send you photo updates of my progress. Not only does this allow you to see your commissioned idea come to life, but it gives me an opportunity to get additional feedback if I need your input at any juncture within the creation process.

Upon completion of the commission, we will arrange payment and delivery.

My commission request was denied. What can I do? If you've submitted an idea for a commission and I told you "no," please know it's not because the idea was a bad one but more likely is because I didn't think I'd be able to execute it within the constraints of my medium. It may also be because the detail and time required make it cost prohibitive. Even on commission, I may not be able to set aside the time for a big project if I have other commitments (art markets, grants, other commissions, personal life, etc).
