Kickstart to Market season!

In 2023 I took a hiatus from selling my art a vendor markets so I could focus on creating the Sensory Sculpture Garden, a grant-funded soft sculpture project.

Now that's over and I'm happy to say I'm back bitches!

February 24 marked my official return to artist markets, with a very fun, very successful return to the field at the Textile Center's Markers Market.

Located in Saint Paul, the Textile Center is ALL ABOUT fiber and fiber art, so it's extremely up my alley and I couldn't have picked a better venue to get back into the swing of things. My co-conspirators (read: fellow vendors) were also talented and creative fiber geeks of all kinds who I have developed various art crushes on.

I can also report I made more than I spent at this market, but I spent a good chunk of change of just a few of the pieces that caught my eye from vendors like:

  • Moxie Designs/Zoe Lautz (Rochester based! but we'd never met!)

  • Melissa Nyberg - cyanotype fiber prints and patchwork

  • Natalie Woodlock - prints! with fringes!

  • Allison Jones - zines and embroidered/beaded earrings

  • Kathy Wilson - non-traditional quilting and machine stitched art

Now that I've had a chance to market-test my booth, inventory, and pricing, I'm ready to dig in for a summer/fall of regional markets. Mark a few in your calendar that I've already booked:

  • Art in the Hollow, June 1 at Swede Hollow Park, St. Paul, MN

  • 43rd Art in the Park, June 15 at Sylvan Park, Lanesboro, MN

  • a handful more to come in August, and hopefully a pop-up or two here in Rochester during the summer and fall

And in the meantime, I'm filling my spring months with crochet classes, including my 3rd fully-booked session with Rochester Community Ed and a session with Stewartville Community Ed which still has seats open - get in there while spots remain!

Little reminder that in these classes, you learn four foundational stitches, a bunch of crochet terminology and tips, and complete three patterns during 6 classes. All for under $100. What a deal.
