Seashells, sand, and seaweed are the centerpiece of this fiber painting. Showcasing a miniaturized view of the life where water and land meet, this seaside scene blends multiple fiber art forms.
The background is quilted cotton fabrics, with handstitched decorative yarn forming sweeping patterns of sand and of clumps of seaweed and grass. A layer of glittering blue fabric is stitched in one corner to form a small tidal pool. This has been crusted on the edges with beads and sequins. There are two beaded starfish, two white shells, and tucked in one corner is a conch shell crocheted in fine yarn and with added sequins.
The entire scene is mounted within a black frame with wire attached across the back for easy hanging on a wall. (The fiber painting and frame come together, as the fiber is attached to the backboard of the frame.)
Fiber painting measures 8"x10". In frame, measures 10.5"x12.5".
